Our Origin

Where Mist Meets Mountain

In the remote highlands of Fujian, Yunnan, and Zhejiang provinces, our tea gardens sit above the cloud line where the air is thin and the soil is rich with centuries of decomposed granite and organic matter. At elevations between 1,200 and 2,400 meters, tea plants grow slowly, developing complex polyphenols and aromatic compounds impossible to replicate at lower altitudes.

We maintain direct trade relationships with twelve family-owned gardens, some cultivating tea for over three centuries. These partnerships ensure fair compensation while preserving time-honored harvesting traditions. Each leaf is plucked by hand according to the "one bud, two leaves" standard, selecting only the tender shoots that promise the most refined flavor.

From withering to rolling, oxidation to firing, every step is guided by master craftspeople whose expertise has been refined over decades. This is not industrial tea production — it is agricultural artistry passed down through generations.

The Process

Crafted with Intention

From leaf to cup, every stage is governed by precision, patience, and centuries of accumulated knowledge.

Harvest

Hand-picked at dawn when dew still clings to the leaves, capturing peak freshness and aromatic oils.

  • • Pre-dawn plucking only
  • • One bud, two leaves standard
  • • 48-hour harvest windows

Wither

Natural air circulation reduces moisture content, softening leaves and initiating enzymatic changes.

  • • Bamboo tray ventilation
  • • 12–18 hour cycles
  • • Climate-controlled rooms

Oxidize

Controlled oxygen exposure transforms green leaves into complex amber and dark hues, developing depth.

  • • Monitored temperature
  • • 30%–85% oxidation range
  • • Hand-rolled bruising

Fire

Final firing halts oxidation and reduces moisture to preserve flavor, creating the finished profile.

  • • Charcoal or electric heat
  • • 110°C–130°C range
  • • Multiple roast passes
"Tea is drunk to forget the din of the world, yet within its silence, we find ourselves."
— T'ien Yi-heng, Ming Dynasty Scholar
Testimonials

Voices of Connoisseurs

"The Imperial Silver Needle is transcendent. I've tasted white teas from across Fujian, but nothing approaches this level of refinement. The honeyed finish lingers for minutes after the final sip."

"Their 2008 Pu-erh is a masterclass in aging. The camphor notes are perfectly balanced with an underlying sweetness that reveals itself gradually across multiple steepings. Worth every dollar."

"As a chef, I appreciate precision. Cyclone Tea delivers consistency and complexity that rivals fine wine. The Da Hong Pao pairs beautifully with dark chocolate and aged cheeses."
